Download or Read book How We Built A Treehouse written by Chris Harper and published by Paragon Publishing. This book was released on 2018-12-10 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/Synopsis: those mighty trees, this “great” book has taken a long time to come to print; ten years in fact. The inspiration was Vic – my father-inlaw – who wanted to build a tree house in the back garden for his grandchild. Sadly, very sadly, Vic was taken from us by Motor Neuron Disease. This book tells how my wife and I built the tree house; not as smoothly as he would have built it, but still with a great sense of achievement. This is the 10th anniversary of Vic’s passing, and it seemed an appropriate time to have the book published (the manuscript and drawings had gathered dust for 10 years). It is a story, not a manual for building a tree house. It tells of our trials and tribulations in realising Vic’s idea. May it encourage you to do the same. For every book sold we will make a donation to the Victor Gray Tribute Fund which supports research into Motor Neuron Disease. Even if you do not buy this book, but still want to make a donation to this very worthy cause, go to https://www.justgiving.com/remember/86439/Victor-Gray

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/Synopsis: Katie’s Mysterious Treehouse Friends By: Roxann Kinney About the Author Roxann Kinney was born and raised in Horseheads, New York. She grew up enjoying sports like baseball, touch football, horseback riding, and ice skating with neighborhood kids and actively snowmobiling with her father and husband and family. Kinney raised two children while living in the hills of Erin, New York, and coached her hometown tee ball and junior league team. Roxann also helped with her daughter’s Brownie troop. After the loss of her husband and fourteen-year-old son in an auto accident with a drunken driver, Kinney and her daughter moved to Rhode Island. Roxann worked for a lottery company building lottery machines, and was promoted to documentation. She also attended college, and completed writing courses with Long Ridge Writers Group and Institute of Children’s Literature. Education through these courses inspired her to write and submit her manuscripts. She felt she had many ideas to tell her stories. Writing, sewing, and growing roses are Kinney’s hobbies. Katie’s Mysterious Treehouse Friends started with the idea in 1996 for a fiction book while she was sitting on her back porch. She loves to read and write fiction as well as other genres. Her only daughter and two grandchildren live in Texas where she finally moved and completed her book, Katie’s Mysterious Treehouse Friends.

Download or Read book The Treehouse Book written by Peter Nelson and published by Universe. This book was released on 2000-07-07 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/Synopsis: It seems that almost everyone likes treehouses. Smiles of recognition turn into grins of enthusiasm as more people discover them and dream about making their own private retreats or family play spaces. And it's nice to remind ourselves that treehouses are built into the oldest and most forgiving, living things on earth. Also, history records treehouses as being built as deliberate follies, as challenges for arboreal designers, for merrymaking, and for keeping the spirit of fairy tales alive. But treehouses can also be social places. We will visit many that were built to entertain, to hang out with friends, or as guest houses. Trees come in all types. Master treehouse builders Peter and Judy Nelson, with David Larkin, have embarked on yet another treehouse-discovery expedition across America, this time adding the investigation of backyard playhouses to their agenda. Now, in The Treehouse Book, they reveal their findings, illustrated and described in the most complete volume yet. From casual treeshacks made from discarded lumber to multitiered feats of fancy, they found shelters representing myriad builders--interesting characters ranging from childhood fanatics grown up, to weekend carpenters, to those who want their grandkids to have the best clubhouse on the block. Detailed how-to information, including plans and drawings, is woven with behind-the-scenes tales of each structure's occupants and stunning interior and exterior photographic exploration.

Download or Read book The Korowai of Irian Jaya written by Gerrit J. van Enk and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1997-07-03 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/Synopsis: Irian Jaya is the official name of the western half of New Guinea, a province of Indonesia since the 1960s. Its inhabitants are generally untouched by civilization, and most of their hundreds of native languages and cultures remain unstudied. Van Enk and de Vries gained access to one of the most isolated parts of Irian Jaya in order to study the Korowai, a tribe in southern Irian Jaya. The Korowai still use stone tools, live in tree-houses, and have no knowledge of the outside world. Van Enk and de Vries provide the first study of the Korowai language and culture. They reproduce oral texts that show patterns of grammar, discourse, and culture, and discuss the phonological, morphological, and syntactical aspects of the language. In the process, van Enk and de Vries reveal a number of key semantic fields and conceptual patterns such as kinship, counting, the role of lunar phases, and Korowai cosmology.
